Ducks and runners dash!

TAVISTOCK mayor Anne Johnson did the honours at Lamerton’s annual duck race and fun run last Sunday — she started the two fun runs and tipped 700 ducks into the stream, assisted by consort Paul and daughter Cassie.
Village hall chairman William Dawe said he was grateful to Cllr Johnson for supporting the event, held at Broady Field, which raised about £1,100 for village hall funds.
Mr?Dawe was particularly pleased that entries for the two fun runs had increased from last year, the first time the village had arranged the event.
Adam Holland, Tavistock’s record-breaking marathon runner, won the 5.25km open race out and back to Chaddlehanger in 19 minutes 4 seconds. The junior race of one mile (1.6 km) within the village and out towards Great Haye was won by Gabriel Schraibman.
